This story is an enchanting blend of history and fantasy and invites the reader to explore the past while basking in the wonder of magic.
Florence and her two brothers Ben and Fred, are the main characters, in the story, and Florence exhibits how a female needs to be strong-minded to succeed in a man's world during those times. As always, Florence has her mind set on improving her world and attempts to embrace the new technologies of the early 1900s; however, the story reveals how difficult new inventions were to use in those days, and how moving on from using horses and carts to automobiles proved challenging.
​Heather takes the factual information and adds a magical narrative around a mystic Stag that Florence follows after looking at a symbolic shield. The breath-taking creature transports the adult Florence back in time on an adventure to when she was once a child in the late 1800s. Florence is amazed when she finds she has become a youngster again living in the small hamlet of Slitting Mill where she had previously lived.
